New York City promoter CEG Presents has announced yet another afterparty to celebrate Phish’s rescheduled New Year’s Eve shows set to take place from April 20 through 23 at Madison Square Garden. The multi-night and multi-venue series will now see the Manhattan debut of supergroup Funky As Hell at Sony Hall on April 21, 2022.
Funky As Hell is comprised of MonoNeon (Prince & Ghost-Note), New York City’s DJ Logic, vocalist Chris Rob (Talib Kweli), Tauk keyboardist Alric Carter, trumpet players Chris Bullock and Mike “Maz” Maher of Snarky Puppy, and guitarist Matt Chase and drummer Adam Chase, also known as The Chase Brothers. The ensemble will celebrate the music of Prince, James Brown, Michael Jackson and more.
Previously announced after-parties by CEG Presents during Phish’s April run include The DAB Sessions hosted by Phish lyricist Tom Marshall featuring John Medeski, Mono Neon, Scott Metzger, and The Chase Brothers, at The Cutting Room – just three blocks from Madison Square Garden set for April 20. On the same evening, Pink Talking Fish will bring the fun over to the Gramercy Theatre.
Additionally Neighbor will bring their party to The Cutting Room on April 21. For the final night of the run, on April 23 Dogs In a Pile will bring sound to Hill Country and Spafford will at Sony Hall.
$1 for every ticket sold during the series will be donated to Phish’s non-profit the WaterWheel Foundation.
