Fruition have shared a video of their backstage rehearsal of Crosby, Stills & Nash’s 1969 classic, “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes,” via YouTube. Jay Blakesberg filmed the video on March 10 at The Mission Ballroom in Denver.
In the video, Fruition frontman Jay Cobb Anderson seamlessly mimics Still’s signature acoustic guitar licks. Likewise, the band’s vocals are pristine and capture beauteous harmonization, much like the original composition.
Except for Anderson, who stands tall with his guitar, the other band members are casually gathered around the lone instrument, using their vocal ranges to intensify the meaning behind the beloved ballad, written by Stills about his former girlfriend, singer/ songwriter Judy Collins.
As the crescendo builds, the band loosens, grooving their way toward the last verses of the tune. Hands clap and fists pound nearby surfaces as they all join in on the acclaimed beat. The result is a masterful rendition of a notable standout.
