The Disco Biscuits performed a private concert celebrating the co-founder of Splice, Group Me and BLADE, Steve Martocci’s 40th birthday over the weekend. The two-set performance included a live debut of three new songs written by Martocci for the band and a Burning Man-style performance on the dance floor.

The Disco Biscuits kicked off the show with “Spacebirdmatingcall,” off the 2001 LP, They Missed The Perfume, and continued with an invert version of “The Great Abyss. Next, the band segued into a live debut performance of “Vibes,” a song written by Steve Martocci and performed as a celebratory surprise.

The ensemble continued with “Cyclone” before returning to set opener “Spacebirdmatingcall.” The Disco Biscuits then performed “Little Shimmy In A Conga Line,” which segued into just the ending of “Basis For A Day.” The band continued with another debut and surprise to Martocci, “Friend Like Steve,” which segued back into “Basis For A Day” to end the first set.

The second set began with “Helicopter,” which was performed unfinished and incorporated a lyrical change to include “Happy Birthday.” The band continued with just the middle of “Crickets,” which segued into “Orch Theme.”

Next, they moved into “Evolve,” followed by a debut performance of “Monster.” The Disco Biscuits then plated “Anthem.” For the final song of the evening, the band revisited “Little Shimmy In A Conga Line,” which was performed during the latter part of the first set.
