Poppa Funk & The Night Tripper, a tribute show to the late Art Neville and Dr. John has announced an all-star lineup will come together during Jazz Fest to celebrate the life and music of two of New Orleans’ most beloved music goliaths.

After the debut of the project at the sold-out Denver Comes Alive in January 2020 and two years of postponements the event will finally find its way home to honor the men in the very streets their music illuminated, the Big Easy. The event will take place at The Fillmore in NOLA on Saturday, May 7.

Poppa Funk & The Night Tripper will feature beloved musicians from the Crescent City and beyond. Direct friends and family of Art Neville will perform including collaborator in The Meters and long-time friend, George Porter Jr., Neville’s son, guitarist Ian Neville and nephew, Ivan Neville – both of whom are members of Dumpstaphunk. The lineup will also feature Neal Francis, Tony Hall, Nikki Glaspie, Skerik and more.

The event will also feature Trouble No More a new Allman Brothers tribute band. The ensemble will make its debut at the Beacon Theatre in New York City ahead of Poppa Funk & The Night Tripper in March. Trouble No More is comprised of Brandon “Taz” Niederauer (guitar/vocals), Dylan Niederauer (bass guitar), Nikki Glaspie (drums),  Daniel Donato (guitar/vocals), Lamar Williams Jr. (vocals), Peter Levin (keys), Jack Ryan (drums) and Roosevelt Collier (pedal steel guitar).

Tickets for the event are on sale now and all tickets purchased from the postponed dates will be honored during the upcoming performance. A portion of proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Big House Museum.
