The golden boy of New Orleans, Trombone Shorty, announced his first offering in five years Lifted which will arrive on April 29 via Blue Note Records. Additionally, the artist, also known as Troy Andrews, released the lead single off the album “Come Back.”

Following 2017’s Parking Lot Symphony, the new LP will feature Andrews and guests grooving over and fusing funk, soul, jazz and more – over 10-tracks. Notable features on Lifted include Gary Clark Jr., Lauren Daigle and the New Breed Brass Band.

In a press release, the musician shared the meaning of the album artwork and title and spoke about his late mother, Lois Nelson Andrews. “She passed recently, but she continued to inspire me right up until she transitioned, and that’s why I put a picture of her holding me up at a second line on the cover of this album. She lifted me up my whole life.”

Andrews continued to talk about the sonic nature in the press release. He said, “I think Lifted is the closest we’ve ever gotten to bottling up the live show and putting it on a record. This time around I told everybody to really cut loose, to perform like they were onstage at a festival.”

Lifted is currently available for pre-order now. Pre-order the album here.
