Yo La Tengo is set to kick off October in New York City by offering indie sounds at the SummerStage nestled in Central Park on Oct.1–free of charge.

The gates will open at 5 p.m. and the free event will begin with DJ Amanda Nazario. At 6 p.m. two films from the Rooftop Films Summer Series will be shown; the first is titled “Date. Interrupted,” the second is titled, “Sousaphone.”

The New Haven underground rock band Mountain Movers will open for Yo La Tengo and will start at 7 p.m. Yo la Tengo will take the stage until the event’s close at 10 p.m.
