Arcade Fire/Antibalas saxophonist Stuart Bogie and Armo will lead after-service jams at New York’s Brooklyn Bowl following the High Holidays on Sept. 6 and 7.
Bogie, who has also collaborated extensively with Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, will lead a jam session following the conclusion of Monday night’s First Night Rosh Hashanah service while Armo, which is made up of longtime Antibalas members, will perform after Tuesday’s morning Rosh Hashanah service. Both events will be streamed for free on Fans.live
As previously reported, for the 10th year, The Friday Night Jams/Because Jewish will host a suite of musically and spiritually driven High Holiday services.
This year’s offerings will be lievestreamed for free via FANS.live.
Led by Rabbi Daniel Brenner Jeremiah Lockwood and trumpeter and Antibalas co-founder Jordan McLean, offerings include Erev Rosh Hashanah livestreamed from Brooklyn Bowl (Sept. 6 at 7:30 p.m.), Rosh Hashanah Morning livestreamed from Brooklyn Bowl (Sept. 7 at 10 a.m.), Kol Nidre livestreamed from the Relix Studio (Sept. 15 at 7 p.m.) and Yom Kippur livestreamed from the Relix Studio (Sept. 16 at 10 a.m.).
A variety of musical guests from the Jewish and secular world will appear throughout the suite of services, both live and through pre-recorded performances, including Yula Berri, Armo, Eric Slick (Dr. Dog), Ross James (Terrapin Family Band), Alex Bleeker (Real Estate), Stuart Bogie (Antibalas/Arcade Fire), Eric Krasno, Dan Lebowitz (ALO), Lenny Kaye (Patti Smith Group), Dave Harrington (Darkside), Adam Roberts, Spencer Zahn, Anthony Russell, Brian Chase (Yeah Yeah Yeahs) and a number of others.
Each service will also include traditional prayers, a guided mediation and instrumental offerings from a number of noted New York jazz players.Learn more at FANS.live.
