Courtney Barnett released a reimagined cover of the Velvet Underground’s “I’ll Be Your Mirror,” the release comes with the announcement of an upcoming tribute album titled I’ll Be Your Mirror: A Tribute to the Velvet Underground & Nico. The record was executive produced by Lou Reed’s dear friend and producer Hal Willner who passed away in April of 2020. I’ll Be Your Mirror: A Tribute to the Velvet Underground & Nico. is set to release on Sept. 24.

“I love them… (The Velvet Underground & Nico). When I listen to ‘I’ll Be Your Mirror’ and read the lyrics, I realize it’s a perfect song. I can relate to every inch of it. I just felt like I could get inside the world of this song,” Barnett said in a press release.

I’ll Be Your Mirror: A Tribute to the Velvet Underground & Nico will feature contributions from Michael Stipe, Matt Berninger, Andrew Bird, Lucius, Kurt Vile & The Violators, St. Vincent & Thomas Bartlett, Thurston Moore, Bobby Gillespie, King Princess, Fontaines D.C., and Iggy Pop & Matt Sweeney. The release will be a track-by-track tribute to the original debut album.
