Last night, Dead & Company kicked off their Summer tour in Raleigh, N.C. marking the first of their 31 show run that will go on until Halloween. The entire tour will be available to stream and watch live from the comfort of your couch.

They started their show at the Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek with “Touch of Grey” allowing fans to settle in through the song’s hook, “It’s alright/ we will get by/ we will survive.” They then played a segment of classics, with “Shakedown Street” into “Deal”  into “Tennessee Jed.” They closed their first set with “New Speedway Boogie.”

Their second set was flush with surprises, solidifying the first show of the tour as a special celebration for not just fans but also the band. They played one song into the next with no breaks throughout, starting with “Playing in the Band.”

Dead & Company played Willie Dixon’s “Spoonful” for the first time since 2017 and for the second time ever, along with a bunch of classics from their repertoire throughout the continuous jam including, “Truckin'”, “The Wheel” and “Slipknot!” They also played a cover of Reverend Gary Davis’ “Death Don’t Have No Mercy,” which marked the first time Bob Weir has played it live since 2015. They closed the night with “Not Fade Away.”
