Phish continued their hot streak in Alpharetta, Ga. on Sunday, Aug. 1, performing a landmark, 33+ minute “Tweezer” jam in their second frame.
This Alpharetta “Tweezer” continues the band’s trend of expansive jamming over this first leg of summer tour: on Alpharetta night one, a lengthy “Carini” took centerstage, whereas night two featured the second-longest “Chalk Dust Torture” ever. (According to Phish.net’s Scott Marks, that 26+ “Chalk Dust” along with Aug. 1’s 33+ minute “Tweezer” marked “the first time in 18 years Phish has played back to back shows with 25-minute jams.”)
Other highlight’s from Phish’s Sunday Alpharetta outing included a “Buried Alive”> “Set Your Soul Free” opener, a nice pivot into “Scary Phish” territory with a mid-set-one “My Friend, My Friend,” a set-one ending “Run Like an Antelope” and a “Sleeping Monkey”> “Tweezer Reprise” encore to bring the evening full-circle.
Phish will continue their summer tour on Aug. 3-4 at Nashville’s Ascend Amphitheater.
