After hosting nearly 50 artists for crowdless shows, Brooklyn Bowl Nashville opened this past weekend in style, hosting Old Crow Medicine Show, Rebirth Brass Band and plenty of guests.

Old Crow Medicine Show performed to a packed venue on June 25 and 26. The Nashville-based band served as the perfect opening ceremony by manifesting a sound of familiarity and folk identity in the new space.

Old Crow Medicine Show welcomed five-time grammy winner and Nashville resident Keb’ Mo’ to bring out the blues Friday, along with fiddler Joshua Hedley, The Po Ramblin Boys, Molly Tuttle, and Rob Crowell. Old Crow Medicine Show added another Nashville resident to the welcoming committee, Jerry Douglas, the following evening.

“The energy, excitement, and passion at the Bowl last night was undeniable,” the venue wrote afterwards, “We have waited a long time to see this room filled with adoring fans and mind-blowing musicians. Thank you all for making it a night we will never forget. We’re just getting started.”

The Brooklyn Bowl Nashville kept the energy rolling and marched into the Sunday of their opening weekend with the Rebirth Brass Band. The New Orleans band showed the versatility of the space by filling it with golden sounds that could light up any street. At one point, Ben Jaffe of Preservation Hall Jazz Band joined Rebirth on tuba adding to the hammered sound.

As the funk and jazz cascaded outwards, Nashvillians got a taste of what had been percolating in Brooklyn, NY (and Las Vegas) all along – the Brooklyn Bowl is a space for great live music.
