On June 12, Orion Allman – grandson of Gregg Allman – joined his father Devon Allman and the Allman Betts Band in Rocky Point, Va., making his stage debut on the Hammond B-3 organ.
Orion added the instrument’s signature sound to “Pale Horse Rider” and the Allman Brothers “Trouble No More,” reminiscent of his grandfather’s work on the very same instrument.
Proud papa Devon Allman recalled, “My son has played piano since he was a little guy, but to see him getting mentored by John Ginty on the same instrument my Dad was famous for; the Hammond B3 organ, was just such a trip! I thought he was just getting some tips but he took the pro tips and then learned one of our songs on the spot and sat in with the band for the first time and it just blew my mind. Mind blown. Heart full. The road truly goes on forever!”

June 15, 2021 at 2:35 pmThe next generation of Allmans ensuring the road goes on… With all the electronic gizmos and instruments through the years, NOTHING takes the place of a B-3.

June 15, 2021 at 2:07 pmThis seems unlikely? There is no such word in an Allman’s vocabulary.
So sweet…God bless Orion in whatever he chooses to do in his life.
I know Grandfather was tickled and very proud!

June 15, 2021 at 9:45 amCongratulations – like the Neville Brothers, the Allmans are growing into the next generation. No doubt that Gregg was one of the first white guys to bake that beautiful Hammond B3 that rocked generations of black church parishioners into soulful rock’n’roll.
