The Blue Note Jazz Club in New York City will be among one of the first venues in the city to reopen to audiences. The reopening will coincide with the re-establishment of the Blue Note Jazz Festival, which will run from June 15 through Aug. 15, 2021. The festival will feature in-person concerts indoors at the Greenwich Village venue, as well as three outdoor shows at SummerStage in Central Park.

In addition to the reopening, the Blue Note Jazz Festival is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Meanwhile, the venue itself is celebrating its 40th year.

The three SummerStage shows kick off on June 20 with a performance by Chris Botti, followed by a June 27 performance by George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic. Finally, on July 11, Galactic will head to SummerStage with guests Anjelika ‘Jelly’ Joseph and MonoNeon.

As for the indoor performances, they will kick off with a six-night residency by Robert Glasper on June 15-20. Other notable shows include Ravi Coltrane on June 24-27, the Eric Krasno Trio on June 29-July 1, John Scofield on July 8-11 and many more.

According to a press release, “four of the artists performing in the 10th anniversary Blue Note Jazz Festival appeared in its inaugural edition: Chris Botti, Eddie Palmieri, Ron Carter, and Eric Krasno. The festival also welcomes artists making their Blue Note debuts: Brasstracks, Ghost-Note, and Digable Planets.

“Reopening the Blue Note and re-establishing the Festival in 2021 is a significant and important step toward restoring the vibrant music community of New York City,” said Steven Bensusan, the President Blue Note Entertainment Group, in a statement. “The reopening will also allow us to celebrate the 10th anniversary of our Festival this year as well as the 40th anniversary of the Blue Note New York.”

“We feel immense gratitude and appreciation for the artists performing at the Blue Note as we reopen,” said Alex Kurland, Director of Programming, in a statement. “The legacy and legendary quality the Blue Note represents results from the greatness and magic the artists bring to the stage. We are grateful to get back to presenting special and intimate live shows at Blue Note with such extraordinary artists.”
