Grateful Dead HQ is keeping their ‘All The Years Live’ video series going with a trip back to Oct 17, 1974 with a hometown performance of “The Other One” at Winterland Arena.
Explains GD legacy manager/archivist David Lemieux, “A centerpiece of the Grateful Dead’s second album, Anthem Of The Sun, ‘The Other One’ broke off from its complete ‘That’s It For The Other One’ suite in 1971 aside from a 1972 one-off, and a few performances of Jerry’s ‘Cryptical Envelopment’ in 1985. Skull & Roses contains what is often considered the definitive live version, taking up a complete side of vinyl of that 1971 masterpiece.”

May 7, 2021 at 2:41 pmI was there. Grateful Dead is like pizza. Even when it’s bad it’s palatable. This is the band’s low point.
It was the second night of a five night stand that preceded the hiatus. We thought on Sunday night that it was the last Dead concert ever. I even have a ticket Bill Graham gave back to us stamped with THE LAST ONE.
Thankfully, the band came back strong as ever. Barton Hall was evidence of that. I was there, too.
