Dark Star Orchestra has shared the news that guitarist Rob Eaton recently suffered a serious wrist injury in his left wrist, fracturing the ulna and radius. In a video, Eaton noted that he broke the bones after falling while getting out of a swimming pool. The band since launched a GoFundMe page to help fund Eaton’s over $75,000 medical bill.
“A recent injury left DSO’s Rob Eaton with a fractured ulna and radius in his left wrist. He currently is keeping these bones all together with pins, screws and a plate,” wrote the band in a social media post. “With guitar playing still on the horizon, Rob is expected to make a full recovery and return to the stage with DSO in the near future. However, the healthcare system in our country & insurance providers have neglected this human repair and Rob is currently looking to the support of the community to help chip away at the over $75,000 medical bill for his mending.”
The band also assured that “all GoFundMe donations raised from this fundraiser will go directly to offset this exorbitant expense.”
Eaton also appeared in a video on DSO’s YouTube channel further explaining the situation; watch it below.

February 13, 2021 at 9:20 amWhy doesn’t he hit up Bobby, Phil or the estate of Jerry for another handout? He’s been sucking off them for years…

February 13, 2021 at 9:11 amSo this is even worse that imagined. He clearly has the money, he just doesn’t want to part with it cause he’s in a dispute with HIS insurance company and hospital HE chose. But wants the public to pay for it ? What a douchebag. I’ll never pay a penny to see DSO again.

February 12, 2021 at 5:08 pmBuncha self righteous turds around here. Pretty simple concept, give him money or don’t. Watch the video ~ dude has insurance but the hospital wouldn’t take it. Trust me, if I could get people to give me 75 grand, fuck yeah, I’d start a gofundme.

February 12, 2021 at 4:19 pmResponsible adults have insurance and don’t make rash dumb decisions. I’ve seen Rob since the Tuesday nights at Martyrs days in Chicago. DSO has played more shows than the dead if you didn’t save a lousy 75k after all these years, that is on you. Just an FYI with that serious surgery he won’t be able to play basic scales till August let alone tour.

February 12, 2021 at 10:40 amIf I can put the pieces together for y’all, sounds like Rob got hurt on vacation, panicked, went to the nearest specialist not in his insurance plan (that part of the system is indeed broken) and is left with a huge co-payment. Don’t pay it Rob, they got enough already. But don’t be an asshat and beg for money too…

February 11, 2021 at 9:00 pmOdd it has to turn to politics. Once again Rob, hope you get back to rhythm really soon, but currently I ain’t got no dime to spare.
Hope the wrist heals quickly after your unfortunate slip in the pool while on vacation. Hope summer gets here soon so I can go swimming.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

February 11, 2021 at 8:44 pmClearly Sum Ting Wong here. The one and only time I saw DSO was 10 years ago and I paid Ticketbastard well over $150 for 2 tickets for the “privilege” of seeing a cover band sucking off the GD teat. You got my contribution already. If you feel rippped off by the healthcare system, don’t pay them, there is little they can/will do, non paying / not insured deadbeats are already built into the rates we all pay.

February 11, 2021 at 6:50 pmIs he “Jerry” or “Bobby”? I’d give money to “Jerry” but not “Bobby” so much. Like, maybe I’d throw in for “Pigpen” and surely for “Brent” but maybe not for “Vince” or “TC” ya feel me? Maybe a little explanation why a band with one of the most predictable, repeatable incomes on the planet has left one of its own without insurance may help. Or, perhaps he’s a stoner jack@$$ who forgot to sign up for Obamacare.

February 11, 2021 at 6:06 pmAny dumbass that think conservatives don’t take money from the government & society at large is obviously delusional. Targeted taxes breaks for the wealthy, subsidized for profit corporations that don’t pay a livable wage, rich get richer poor get poorer, the beat goes on. Wake up dude, open your eyes, it’s not liberals v conservatives, it’s the haves v the have nots
Just asking
February 13, 2021 at 9:55 amWhat makes you think conservatives are wealthy? Yeah we do tend to save for a rainy day and not blow every cent that crosses our palm on stupid stuff but just about anybody can do that.

February 11, 2021 at 5:47 pmTypical Liberal…Why pay your own way when you can get someone else to pay it for you! This clown has made money hand over fist for years!! #GibsMe

February 11, 2021 at 5:43 pmWell they could explain what the circumstances are as it relates to insurance not just some dopey comment about the state of health care or insurance. I am self employed and 61 years old and pay over 700 a month for my insurance and trust me I cannot afford that. So what is the deal here? Did he have insurance or not? In any event I hope for a speedy and full recovery but no money from here without some clarity on the circumstances of why this is not covered by insurance.

February 11, 2021 at 2:32 pmI don’t time to give $1 dollor to help change the world but i have plenty of time to cry like a lil baby at what a broke bitch i am! You don’t even say get well soon or nothing.
dude
February 11, 2021 at 3:00 pmand I get a million people to give me a dollar each, and I’m a millionaire…what’s your point?

February 11, 2021 at 2:21 pmYou understand the concept of crowd funding? If we all get together and give a dollor or two we can help change the world and the lives of our friends! You really dont see the cool power we have to all band together for a good cause?

February 11, 2021 at 2:16 pmAll that he is asking for is ten gold dollors! He can pay you back with one good hand!

February 11, 2021 at 1:53 pmLove DSO, but they have MUCH more money than me. Not sure if they get health insurance for themselves, if not…they should. I pay an over the top amount for insurance for situations like this (live in PA…NO pools open here) . I cannot afford to give to a person/band who have more $$ than myself.
Good luck Rob. I’ll send good vibes your way – all I can afford.
Good for you
February 11, 2021 at 2:10 pmA fair response, and it is appreciated you didn’t call him out or crap on him for starting a GoFundMe…
Thanks for not being
February 11, 2021 at 2:40 pmlike “Sam” (a perfect case in point, and it was only a matter of time)
Get well, Rob
February 11, 2021 at 3:02 pmLove Rob and the DSO, but I’m with Tenn Jed on this one. I don’t see this as a broken health care system, this is more about the irresponsibility of a 50 some year old man not making sure he is insured. Outside of the dough from the DSO, don’t forget Rob was involved in producing and guitar tech work (Pat Metheny Group comes to mind) for years. This isn’t the hard luck tale of a street busker. Having pointed that out, wishing a speedy recovery for you Rob.

February 11, 2021 at 6:00 pmI’m a nurse who works fulltime in an ICU, also have a wife and three kids who depend on me. After taxes and health insurance I take home 40K a year, and we make it work by being frugal. Asking for this money should only be done by people who absolutely have no other choice. Those that prospered before our current crisis should have saved more, not fair to ask for a bailout when you had success and didn’t plan for your future. Set up a payment plan dude, kinda crazy…..
