Madison Square Garden has shared a short clip of guitarist Trey Anastasio discussing his experience being stuck on a riser during Phish’s 2019 New Years Eve gag.
“I was really stuck,” Anastasio says with a laugh. “We didn’t have a hanging harness; I just had a belt with a wire that made it so I wouldn’t walk to the edge. And I thought, ‘Oh this is safe,’ until it started to tilt.”
Anastasio recently poked fun at the gag malfunction with an alternate-reality short film prior to his latest Beacon Jams livestream. For more on that, click here. For a more in-depth summary of Phish’s NYE gag, read our recap of the show.
