On Halloween night, Pink Talking Fish performed a drive-in gig at the Drive-In Live in Swanzey, N.H. Mihali and Neighbor served as the opening acts for the gig. During the set, PTF sprinkled in a variety of Halloween/fall themed non-Phish/Pink Floyd/Talking Heads covers to go along with their usual repertoire.

The band kicked off the set by emerging from coffins, each dressed as skeletons (complete with face paint). Considering the grave-themed entrance, Phish’s “Buried Alive” was a fitting opener for the show. After the Phish cut, Pink Talking Fish then moved to material by the first two-thirds of their name: Talking Heads’ “Life During Wartime” followed by Pink Floyd’s “One Of These Days.” Next came “Roses Are Free,” during which the band shifted the lyrics from “throw that pumpkin at the tree” to “smash the pumpkin at the tree.” Upon singing the lyric, the band shifted into a cover of Smashing Pumpkins’ “Cherub Rock.”

Later in the set, after a run of “Astronomy Domine” > “Ghost” > “Sparks” > “Psycho Killer,” the band melded Phish and Slayer with a performance of “Big Black Furry Creature from Mars” > “Raining Blood” > “BBFCFM.” After “Run Like Hell,” PTF closed out the show with a mashup of Phish’s “Carini” and Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs.”

For the encore, Pink Talking Fish kept the rain-themed covers coming, with a performance of Guns N’ Roses’ “November Rain.” A rendition of Phish’s “First Tube” closed out the show.
