According to the BBC, singer-songwriter Van Morrison has doubled down on his condemnation of COVID-19 restrictions, preparing three new tracks exploring the topic: “Born To Be Free” (out Sept. 25), “No More Lockdown” (out Oct. 9) and “As I Walked Out” (out Oct. 23).

Previously, Morrison criticized socially-distant concerts as “pseudo-science” and argued that musicians “need to be playing to full capacity audiences going forward.”

Ironically, after making those remarks, Morrison himself played three socially-distanced concerts in the UK.

“I’m not telling people what to do or think, the government is doing a great job of that already,” Morrison said in an official statement. “It’s about freedom of choice, I believe people should have the right to think for themselves.”

Worldwide, COVID-19 has contributed to the deaths of over 947,000 people.

Around 198,000 of them were in the United States alone.
