Margo Price performed on Saturday, July 11’s edition of the Grand Ole Opry’s audience-free livestream. She performed songs from her new album That’s How Rumors Get Started as well as a cover of Henson Cargill’s “Skip A Rope.” Notably, the singer/songwriter called on the Grand Ole Opry to invite “The Real Lady A” Anita White to perform on the Opry stage.

“I hope that we can continue to go one step further in so many of these Nashville institutions, and support the voices of our black brothers and sisters when they need it most,” she said during her set. “Lady Antebellum has had a platform here, I think it would be really wonderful if y’all invited Anita White – the real Lady A – here to come and sing. Country music owes such a great deal of what we have to black artists and black music, and there is no place for sexism, racism in this music.”

Price will appear on PBS/CNN International’s ‘Amanpour’ and ABC’s ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ tonight, July 13; the programs will air recorded footage of Price and her band performing in quarantine.
