Umphrey’s McGee guitarist Brendan Bayliss and the late Yonder Mountain String Band mandolinist Jeff Austin released just one album under the moniker 30db, 2010’s One Man Show. On May 11, Austin’s family and Bayliss shared an unreleased track from the LP, “Jesus, Grant Me Mercy.”
“In early 2006, after going through similar hardships, Jeff Austin and Brendan Bayliss teamed up to perform some side gigs, mostly for their own entertainment,” read a note Umphrey’s McGee posted when sharing the audio. “After writing and performing many original tunes, the two decided to put together a full band and hit the studio. On May 11, 2010, 30db released their first and only album titled One Man Show, followed by a quick live show jaunt through the midwest. Jeff’s family and Brendan recently unearthed an unreleased track titled ‘Jesus, Grant Me Mercy.’”
Eagle-eyed 30db listeners might note that a different version of “Jesus, Grant Me Mercy” appears as a bonus track for One Man Show on its iTunes and Apple Music releases.
