On Saturday night, Widespread Panic offered their third of five shows at New York’s Beacon Theatre, acknowledging Leap Day with a time-themed set and even offering their first take on “Tortured Artist” since 2018.

The show kicked off with beloved Mikey Houser vehicle “Space Wrangler.” Following “Walkin’ (For Your Love)” and the first nod to time – “Up All Night” – the band jumped into “Tortured Artist” (LTP: 2/16/18, show gap 80).

Later, a classic pairing of “Machine”> “Barstools & Dreamers” led into a set-closing “Flat Foot Flewzy.”

After a massive opening segment of “Blackout Blues”> “Jam”> “Airplane”> “Holden Oversoul,” set two was highlighted by even more nods to the Feb. 29 date, such as “Time Zones,” “Somewhere In Time” and “There Is A Time.”

“Red Hot Mama” closed the show in style, before an encore of “This Part of Town” and “Mr. Soul.”

Widespread Panic’s Beacon run wraps up this week on Sunday and Monday.
