Goose played their first-ever California gig on Thursday night, opening for fellow feathered friends Pigeons Playing Ping Pong at Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach.

During the main event, Goose singer/guitarist Rick Mitarotonda even joined the headliners for a set-one version of PPPP fan favorite “Poseidon.”

Later, for the band’s second frame, flutist Gina Sobel amplified the rarely-heard original “J-Town.”

PPPP found their groove in the following “Drunk People”> “Abracadabra”> “Drunk People” segment, and closed the show with stand-alone versions of “Overrun” and “Avalanche.”

Pigeons Playing Ping Pong ended the SoCal gig with “Fun in Funk.”

This weekend both Goose and Pigeons Playing Ping Pong will continue their West Coast run with a two-night stand at the Troubadour in West Hollywood.
