On Dec. 31, moe. performed a New Years Eve show at the Stanley Center for the Arts in Utica, N.Y. The show saw guitarist Al Schnier and Chuck Garvey play acoustic instruments in the first set, highlighted by a cover of “Statesboro Blues.” The band rung in the new year with a “roaring 20s” theme with each band member in their sharpest suits for “Silver Sun” and “Rebubula.”
The first set, which featured Garvey on acoustic guitar and Schnier switching between acoustic guitar and mandolin, began with “It,” followed by “Time Again” and “Shoot First.” Next, moe. covered the Allman Brothers’ arrangement of “Statesboro Blues” for the first time in their history. Next came “Where Does The Time Go?” followed by “Tambourine” to close the set.
The second set opened with “Tailspin,” followed by “Puebla” and “Don’t Fuck With The Flo.” Later in the set, moe. covered “East St. Louis Blues” by Blind Willie McTell for the first time in the band’s history, followed by “Opium.” Fittingly, they closed the second set with “New Hope For The New Year.”
“Along For The Ride” and “Nebraska” kicked off the third set, followed by moe.’s first ever performance of “Mack The Knife.” The band counted down to the new decade in “Silver Sun” and then played the beloved “Rebubula.” Later, “Timmy Tucker” closed the final set of the evening. “Spine Of A Dog” served as the encore.
moe. returns to the stage on Jan. 7 at JamCruise. Check out a full setlist from their New Years Eve show below, courtesy of the band’s Facebook page.

January 1, 2020 at 10:29 pmBlind Willie McTell wrote Statesboro blues, the ABB covered it and made it their own. It’s worth noting the version moe. played last nite was more in line with the original arrangement Mr. McTell wrote as it was played on acoustic guitars.
The 5 song suite of tunes to being set 2 were the improv highlight of the evening Tailspin > Puebla > Don’t Fuck With Flo > Tubing The River Styx > The Pit
