Widespread Panic’s Halloween weekend run at New Orleans’ UNO Lakefront Arena continued last night. While the group’s October 31 show was a more festive affair–complete with an extended Andy Kaufman gag and the group’s traditional selection of Halloween cover debuts–last night’s show also featured some special moments.

The Athens, GA-bred band kicked off their first set with a run from “Bowlegged Woman” into “Chilly Water” and bookended their first set with with a reverse of the same sequence, moving from bassist Dave Schools’ “Entering a Black Hole Backwards” into “Chilly Water” and the end of “Bowlegged Woman.” (Panic had not performed “Entering a Black Hole Backwards” in over five years, since March 28, 2014.) Early in their first set, Panic also nodded to Thursday night’s theme by teasing the comedian’s “I Trusted You” during “Walkin’ (For Your Love).”

The group focused on improv during their second set, hitting the gates running with “Disco” and “Diner” and bringing that set to a close with “Red Hot Mama.” Widespread Panic will close their New Orleans run this evening.
