For his Thursday night stop at The Anthem in Washington D.C., Bon Iver (aka Justin Vernon) invited Bruce Hornsby onstage for two tunes, including Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me.”
Interestingly, this is not the first time the two musicians have collaborated. Hornsby sat in with Vernon for the exact same Raitt cover in December 2017, the duo recorded a version of “Black Muddy River” for 2016’s Day of the Dead compilation and Vernon even appeared on Hornsby’s recent Absolute Zero record.
After the Raitt cover on Thursday, Hornsby departed the stage and then returned a few songs later to add keys to Vernon’s i,i track “Salem.”
