Psychedelic rock outfit The Flaming Lips have announced the release of their first official live album, The Soft Bulletin: Recorded Live at Red Rocks with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, due out Nov. 15 via Warner Records.
The release showcases a 2016 performance during which they covered their 1999 critically-acclaimed album, The Soft Bulletin, with a full orchestra, chorus, and new song arrangements for every track on the album.
Regarding the performance, a press release states that “This particular event has been regarded by those in attendance as one of the most awe-inspiring, moving and magical moments of a lifetime. For the Lips and their fans, perhaps the apex of a magnificent interpretation that will remain as rewarding and emotionally-charged as it was that night in 2016.”
The band’s accompanying orchestra featured 69 members and 56 singers, who were led by conductor André de Ridder.
Album pre-orders are now available, and include an instant download of ‘Race for the Prize’ from the album.
