In a new interview with Relix, keyboardist Adam MacDougall has confirmed that Soulive guitarist Eric Krasno will be filling in on guitar for Circles Around the Sun’s upcoming fall tour schedule.

“It’s nice to have someone we trust to step in,” MacDougall tells Relix of Krasno joining the band. Answering a question about whether CATS ever considered forging on as a trio, the keyboardist adds, “We definitely went through a lot of thinking about that, and if it was something we should even think about. It was really tough. We’re going to go on with Eric, one of our good friends and great musical companions, who has stepped in to be a part of the shows we have coming up.”

The improvisatory group, which lost guitarist and bandleader Neal Casal to suicide late last month, has four East Coast dates left on their 2019 slate, along with a special performance as part of “There’s a Reward,” a benefit concert dedicated to Casal’s memory tomorrow night (Sept. 25) at The Capitol Theatre, which will also feature Krasno.
