On Sunday evening, Gov’t Mule returned to Colorado’s famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre for a two-set performance that featured a surprise appearance from Lettuce drummer Adam Deitch and his parents, plus some musical references to the 50th anniversary of Woodstock.

The guest spots came in the second set, which kicked off with a song made famous by Woodstock ’69 alum Santana, “Jingo,” featuring Deitch and his parents, Bobby and Denise, teaming up on percussion. The Deitch trio also returned later in the set for “Kind of Bird.” Adam’s parents were in town for A Deitch Family Affair, which took place in Denver on Saturday night and featured the Bobby Deitch Band.

Mule also fit in a couple other Woodstock nods, running through “Eyesight to the Blind,” a Sonny Boy Williamson tune that The Who adapted for their rock opera Tommy and played at the 1969 festival, along with an encore of Jimi Hendrix’s “Voodoo Child (Slight Return),” which was a part of Mule’s Woodstock tribute set at this year’s Mountain Jam.

Check out the full setlist below, along with fan-shot video of the Hendrix encore. Next up for Gov’t Mule is a show in Jackson, WY, tomorrow night.
