Joe Russo’s Almost Dead took their Grateful Dead tribute act to Chicago on Thursday evening for a performance at Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island, and the group welcomed Wilco drummer Glenn Kotche for a “Drums” jam and more at the end of the first set.

After running through Dead staples like “Brown-Eyed Women,” “St. Stephen,” “Playing in the Band” and “Althea,” JRAD took advantage of being in Wilco’s hometown by bringing out Kotche for “Drums,” and the drummer also stuck around with Russo behind his kit for the set-closing “The Other One.” This wasn’t the first onstage collaboration between Russo and Kotche—in 2015, Wilco were joined by Russo during their set at Gathering of the Vibes.

Set two last night kicked off with a jam on The Beatles’ “Dear Prudence” and also included favorites like “Good Lovin’,” “New Speedway Boogie,” “Jack Straw” and “Stella Blue” before Russo and company returned to close out the night with an encore of “Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo.”
