Widespread Panic kicked off their summer tour on Friday night, paying tribute to the late, great Dr. John with teases of the NOLA legend’s “Such A Night” within live favorite “Greta.”

The party continued at Brandon Amphitheater on Saturday night, with WSP opening the first half with “Stop-Go” (which was teased the previous night in “Cotton Was King”).

Later in set one, the band appropriately revived their Ball track “Thin Air (Smells Like Mississippi),” nodding to Brandon Amphitheater’s location. The tune hadn’t been performed by the band since June 27, 2014 at Red Rocks, with a show gap of 270.

Saturday’s second set went jam-heavy with an opening “Junior”> “Ribs and Whiskey” segue and a standout “Surprise Valley”> “Airplane”> “Drums” segment. Widespread Panic closed the show with “Last Dance,” before encoring with “Nobody’s Loss” and “You Wreck Me.”

WSP’s next gigs will be their traditional three-night outing at Red Rocks, scheduled for June 28-30.
