The Allman Betts Band—led by next-generation Allman Brothers Band family members Devon Allman and Duane Betts—will release their debut album, Down to the River, June 28 via BMG, and today the band has shared another preview of the effort with new track “Shinin.”

The song is the second single from the record, following up previously released track “All Night.”

“’Shinin’ is a song about how love and devotion can lift you up so you shine brighter than you could alone,” Betts explains to Rolling Stone. “It is a song about gratitude and acknowledgement that real love can take you to the next level. I had a few ideas that I brought over to (collaborator) Stoll Vaughan to work on in Los Angeles right before we started the sessions in Muscle Shoals for Down to the River. We wrote this late addition and it fit perfectly with the list of tunes we had already put together. I’m glad it worked out the way it did.”

Along with Allman and Betts, The Allman Betts Band features bassist Berry Oakley Jr. (son of the founding Allman Brothers Band bassist), guitarist Johnny Stachela, and percussionists John Lum and R. Scott Bryan.

Listen to “Shinin” below. The Allman Betts Band has a busy summer schedule coming up, and next up for the band is a June 8 show in Garberville, CA. See the group’s full tour slate here.
