After announcing last week that his upcoming album with side-project Ghosts of the Forest will be released on April 12, Trey Anastasio has shared a preview of the effort with a short clip of music posted to his social media pages.
Accompanied only with the caption “Get In,” presumably the title of the track, the preview features some ambient sounds with an effects-laden guitar on top, leading to Anastasio’s voice singing, “Get in, get out” just before the clip cuts off. Listen below.
The guitarist has said that the Ghosts of the Forest album will feature “psychedelic guitar liftoffs, ambitious arrangements and extremely personal lyrics” and was heavily influenced by his late friend, Chris Cottrell. Anastasio noted that he wrote the album’s songs in the days following Cottrell’s passing in January 2018.
Anastasio will open up his Ghosts of the Forest tour dates—featuring Phish drummer Jon Fishman, vocalist Celisse Henderson, and Trey Anastasio Band members Jennifer Hartswick, Tony Markellis and Ray Paczkowski—on April 4 in Portland, ME.
