Steve Kimock wrapped up a three-night run at Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley, CA, on Thursday evening, continuing his collaboration with a band of Friends including keyboardist Jeff Chimenti, bassist Reed Mathis and drummer John Kimock. Led by the host guitarist, the collective also welcomed Bob Weir, vocalist Leslie Mendelson and former Talking Heads member Jerry Harrison during their two set-performance last night.

After a first set that featured Mendelson helping out on “Mother’s Song,” the main quartet returned to the stage to open set two with “One For Brother Mike” before being joined by Weir, Mendelson and Harrison for a run of the Grateful Dead’s “I Need a Miracle.” Weir and Mendelson stuck around for another Dead cut, “Bird Song,” and Mendelson sang on “Satellite City,” Jimi Hendrix’s “Crosstown Traffic” and Bob Dylan’s “Simple Twist of Fate.”
