Cage The Elephant have announced their fifth LP, Social Cues, which will be released on April 19th via RCA Records.
The album is produced by John Hill, who has worked with high-profile names like Florence + The Machine and Portugal. The Man. Social Cues will also feature a guest appearance by pop provocateur Beck.
Apparently, while writing the material for the album, frontman Matt Schultz was recovering from a relationship gone awry. He sought solace in a “reactive state of improvisational thought.”
“I let images just arise in my mind and wait for it to evoke an emotional response and then when it does, I know I’m on to something,” he explained. “I was watching a lot of Fassbinder films, like World on a Wire and The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant. I was thinking about their beauty coupled with the graphic surrealism of Aronofsky.”
To promote the new LP, Cage The Elephant have released the music video for “Ready To Let Go,” a mid-album track that a press release describes as “deceptively upbeat.”
