The 8th Annual Nolafunk Series during Jazz Fest, presented by CEG Presents & Nolafunk, has made its first announcement regarding next year’s offerings with “Freedia Fest,” headlined by NOLA staple Big Freedia.

Featured performances will include Boyfriend and Khris Royal & Dark Matter (Dark Matter will be backing up each act). The event will mark the fourth year in a row that Big Freedia has performed during the second week of Jazz Fest.

Those who attend the Nolafunk series can expect older and younger musicians, national and local acts and lineup pairings that are sure to impress. The series will take place during the evenings and weekends of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Fest, starting Apr. 25 and ending on May 5, 2019.

Big Freedia is a prominent New Orleans native who holds the title of the Queen of Bounce and has lent her unique music style to popular songs such as Beyoncé’s “Formation” and Drake’s “Nice For What.”

Tickets for Freedia Fest go on sale to the general public on Friday, December 7, at 12 pm CST/1 pm EST here. Stay tuned to Nolafunk’s website for additional Jazz Fest series announcements.
