Real Estate have confirmed a three-night run at the intimate San Francisco venue The Chapel. The musicians, who have appeared at the club both collectively and with their side-projects, will hunker down at The Chapel from January 31-February 2. The quintet’s only other confirmed date, as of press time, is a headlining slot at Jacksonville, FL’s Intuition Ale Works 8th Anniversary on December 1. Other confirmed acts include: Hiss Golden Messenger, Futurebirds,  T. Hardy Morris,  Banquet, and Brett Bass and Melted Plectrum. Real Estate are currently working on their fifth full-length LP.

In related news, Real Estate guitarist Julian Lynch, a member of several of the band’s pre-cursor projects who officially joined in 2016, will release a new solo album, Rat’s Spit, on January 18 via Ya Reach Media/Underwater Peoples.  A note about the release explains, “The songs exhibit an array of inspirations from the world of pop music including Tears for Fears, Yes, Cocteau Twins, Kate Bush, George Clinton’s self-produced solo records, Brian Eno, and Steve Vai’s more eccentric post-Zappa production work on albums like FlexableLynch’s unique approach to electric guitar comes to life on Rat’s Spit, exploring the instrument’s more unconventional paths and possibilities and drawing influence from the legato lead playing of Fripp, the extended technique playing of Henry Kaiser, and analog synth layering via midi pickup à la Adrian Belew.”

Lynch is currently a candidate for a PhD in anthropology and ethnomusicology.
