Farm Aid 2018 came to the Xfinity Theatre in Hartford, CT, on Saturday, boasting an all-star lineup that featured Farm Aid board members Willie Nelson, Neil Young, Dave Matthews and John Mellencamp, among several others. There were a few collaborations throughout the show, which was broadcast for free on YouTube, including during Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats’ set, when Rateliff and company welcomed out fellow Farm Aid performers Margo Price and Lukas Nelson (who later helped form the backing bands for Young and Lukas’ father Willie during their respective sets) for a cover of The Band’s classic “The Shape I’m In.”

That wasn’t the first collaboration of the day, however, as Price joined Lukas and his Promise of the Real during their early set for the POTR original “Find Yourself.” Price then offered her own set—which featured the singer getting behind the drum set for a stint—followed by Jamey Johnson. Rateliff and The Night Sweats then took the stage to play some songs from their latest release, Tearing at the Seams, plus their debut-album hit “S.O.B.,” which led into the Price and Lukas-assisted “The Shape I’m In.”

Kacey Musgraves then took the stage, followed by a fiery five-song performance from Sturgill Simpson. After Chris Stapleton’s set, Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds kicked off the Farm Aid board members portion of the show, with the duo offering Dave Matthews Band favorites like “Don’t Drink the Water,” “#41,” “Lie in Our Graves,” “Grey Street” and “Ants Marching.”

After John Mellencamp’s set, Promise of the Real returned to the stage to back up Neil Young, who fit a few calls to action into his performance of classics like “Heart of Gold” and CSNY’s “Ohio,” along with the live debut of “Children of Destiny” and Young’s first performance of “Tell Me Why” with POTR. Willie Nelson and his band (featuring Lukas) then closed out the evening with a longer set that wrapped up with all the Farm Aid performers joining him on stage for his usual closing medley of “Will the Circle Be Unbroken?” and “I’ll Fly Away.”

Below, watch pro-shot video from most of the performances from Farm Aid 2018 thanks to the free webcast (which also features interspersed video of some of the local farmers that the event supports), starting with Margo Price’s closing song, plus fan-shot video of Price joining Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real earlier in the afternoon.
