Doom Flamingo, the new side-project of Umphrey’s McGee bassist Ryan Stasik, have revealed their very first single, “F-16,” the first preview of a four-song EP expected from the band this fall.
The new track showcases the band’s self-described “synthwave dance party” aesthetic, with plenty of ’80s synthesizer textures and canned drums, with Stasik’s bouncing bass filling out the low end and vocalist Kanika Moore leading the charge. Along with Stasik and Moore, Doom Flamingo features keyboardist Ross Bogan, guitarist Thomas Kenney, drummer Stu White and saxophonist Mike Quinn.
Doom Flamingo made their live debut this past spring in South Carolina with an Umphrey’s McGee after-party performance. The group has a few more Carolina gigs on their schedule for next month, beginning with an October 11 show in Charlotte, NC. Learn more about the band and their schedule here.
