On Thursday night at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, Arcade Fire played the first of three California shows set for this week and surprised fans by kicking off their set with a full-album run-through of their 2004 breakout LP Funeral for the first time ever.

The show, as with the album, opened with Funeral‘s “Neighborhood” suite and ran through classics like “Wake Up” and “Rebellion (Lies),” along with the tour debut of album closer “In the Backseat.” The rest of last night’s show featured tracks from other Arcade Fire albums, including standouts like the title tracks from 2010’s The Suburbs, 2013’s Reflektor and last year’s Everything Now.

Arcade Fire Tube, which closely follows the band’s ongoings, also notes that the Funeral performance will be the first of three, presumably continuing tonight with another show at the LA Greek and tomorrow night at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, CA.

See last night’s setlist below, along with some fan-shot video from the show.
