After wrapping up their run at Atlanta’s Tabernacle this past weekend, Umphrey’s McGee are looking to the future of their current tour with the announcement of an all-improv set, which will take place during the band’s show at Portland, ME’s State Theatre on January 27.

On that night, Umphrey’s will play an entirely-improvised second set with special guest and frequent collaborator Joshua Redman on saxophone. The show will mark only the second time the band has done such a set outside of their annual UMBowl antics, the first time coming in Madison, WI, in January 2015, also with Redman accompanying. The band also released an official recording of that show, which can be heard here. Watch a clip of the all-improv set below.

Next up for Umphrey’s is a two-night run at The National in Richmond, VA, starting this Friday, January 20. Get their full tour information here.
