Paul Simon, James Taylor, Bobby McFerrin and more will pay homage to the memory of saxophonist Michael Brecker at “The Nearness of You” benefit concert in New York City on January 20 at The Appel Room at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall.

Brecker, who was diagnosed with Myelodisplastic Syndromes in 2004, failed to find a matching donor for a bone marrow transplant and died at the age of 57 in 2007. The sax player won 15 Grammys during his musical career and performed and recorded with Simon and Taylor as well as Steely Dan, Eric Clapton, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Parliament-Funkadelic and more.

General tickets are on sale November 17 at the Lincoln Center box office or online. All proceeds from the show will support cancer research at Columbia University Medical Center.
