Dave Matthews Band saxophonist and longtime Flecktones member Jeff Coffin will kick off a series of Texes shows with his Mu’tet this evening. The jazz ensemble will perform at Dallas’ Jazz Education Network Conference this afternoon, Ft. Worth’s Live Oak Music Hall tomorrow and Dallas’ Poor David’s Pub on Saturday. For these shows, Coffin’s band will consist of Felix Pastorius, Bill Fanning, Chris Walters and his onetime Flecktones collaborator Futureman.

The Flecktones remain on hiatus, though Futureman will tour with his brother and the group’s bassist Victor Wooten this year. Dave Matthews Band will perform at Australia’s West Coast Blues N Roots Festival on April 13.
