Earlier this year, Bob Weir told Relix/Jambands.com’s Dean Budnick in a Relix cover story that when it comes to RatDog, the group “certainly hasn’t run its course but I only have so much time and energy…One of the shows I want to do [in the studio] is RatDog. I want to get all or at least most of the guys who are still alive who played with RatDog and do a retrospective. In doing so, we’ll probably make a DVD and a record. I’ve got unfinished business with that outfit.” On Sunday we reported that Weir will reunite RatDog for a performance at his TRI Studios. He has now announced that the recent RatDog core lineup of Jay Lane, Kenny Brooks, Jeff Chimenti, Mark Karan and Robin Sylvester will be augmented by original bass player Rob Wasserman as well as Steve Kimock, who joined the group for a spell while Karan recovered from cancer. Who knows, perhaps other RatDog alums such as Matthew Kelly and Dave Ellis will appear as well.
