February 7 is the official release date of Moon Taxi’s studio album, Cabaret. Hank Sullivant (The Whigs, Kuroma) produced the record, which was mixed by Vance Powell (Raconteurs). Cabaret, “illustrates the challenges of defining yourself in a world that seems to be suffering from its own identity loss.” A video for the title track has just premiered on Relix.com.

The group’s Spencer Thomson has this to say about the new video, “Down in Hattiesburg Mississippi, there is a real cool small club called Bennies Boom Boom Room. The owner, Ben Shemper projects these great old video clips, just like the ones used in Cabaret, against the wall while the band plays. I always thought it was really cool looking. So that was definitely a big inspiration for the video. It also tied into one of the main ideas we had in producing the album, which was mixing modern and vintage aesthetics together to create something that feels current but also has a certain timelessness to it. We’re trying to bring a certain level of class back to modern sexuality. It was definitely a lot of fun to make.”
