Last night, Gov’t Mule worked its way to Reno, Nevada for a show at the Hawkins Amphitheater. There the band was joined by Louisiana bluesman Lazy Lester. The 76 year old performer, born as Leslie Johnson, appeared for the encore where he joined Gov’t Mule for versions of “I Hear Ya Knockin’” and “Smokestack Lightning.” Then he remained on stage for a duo performance with Warren Haynes, as the two interpreted “Sing Me Back Home” to conclude the night. Incidentally, Gov’t Mule did not cover “Friend of The Devil,” although perhaps that will happen tonight now that the group has lit out from Reno, en route to San Diego.
