Reid Genauer spent three nights on the road opening for Mike Gordon last week. His third and final show with the Phish bassist took place at Falls Church, VA’s State Theatre this past Saturday. During Genauer’s opening set Mike Gordon Band guitarist Scott Murawski sat in with the Assembly of Dust leader for “Honest Hour,” a song he has covered with his primary band Max Creek. The evening’s headliner then took the stage with Genauer to play acoustic guitar and sing harmony on a cover of Gillian Welch’s “Back in Time” that included a rare acoustic guitar solo by Gordon. Finally, during Gordon’s set Genauer returned the favor by supplying lead vocals on a cover of the Allman Brothers Band’s “Ain’t Wasting Time No More” that segued into a take on Fatboy Slim’s “La La La.” Gordon and Genauer also offered a vocal jam on the latter song.

Gordon will appear at Raligh, NC’s Lincoln Theater tonight, while Assembly of Dust will headline Troy, NY’s Revolution Hall this Friday.
