Jamaican guitarist Earl Chinna Smith (Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Peter Tosh) recently joined Toubab Krewe at his home studio in Kingston. While these recordings have yet to be released, stateside listeners will have an opportunity to listen in on the collaboration later this summer. Smith is slated to appear with band for a few weeks starting in mid-July, including stops at the Rocks Off! Concert Cruise (New York City, 7/15), Festivus for the Restivus (Cabot, VT 7/17-18), Floyd Fest (Floyd, VA, 7/24-25) and Smith’s Olde Bar (Atlanta, 7/31 & 8/1). Meanwhile Toubab Krewe returns to the road on Wednesday with a gig at Pittsburgh’s Three Rivers Arts Festival before a series of summer dates that include a performance at Bonnaroo (with special guest Rayna Gellert on fiddle) before the band heads up to Rothbury.
