The Allman Brothers Band wrapped up a West Coast run with the Doobie Brothers this past Saturday in California. Though the two groups did not collaborate for most of the run, on Friday Doobie Brothers co-founder Pat Simmons took the stage to sing and play guitar with the Allmans at Valley Center, CAs Harrah’s Rincon. In addition, both Susan Tedeschi and drummer James van de Bogert sat in on a cover of Bob Dylans Don’t Think Twice. The collaborations continued Saturday night at Indio, CAs Fantasy Springs Casino when Doobie Brothers saxophonist Marc Russo sat in with the Allman Brothers on The Same Thing. The evening also saw Doobie Borthers guitarist and co-founder Tom Johnston appear on Stormy Monday and Simmons returned for One Way Out. The Allman Brothers Bands tour will continue at Mountain Jam this weekend, while the Doobie Brothers will take the stage at Muskogee, OKs Muskogee Civic Center this Thursday.
