Longtime Zen Tricksters bassist Klyph Black began working with Donna Jean Godchaux when his group started performing with her as Donna Jean & the Tricksters. DJ&tT has stopped gigging as of late as Godchaux focuses on the Donna Jean Godchaux Band with Jeff Mattson. However Godchaux clearly maintains support for Black as she attended his gig last night with Rumor Has It at Mirelle’s in Westbury, Long Island. The vocalist joined in for a cover of Hank Ballard’s ‘Tore Up Over You,’ a song often covered by the Jerry Garcia Band and one that Godchaux and Black also had interpreted with Donna Jean & the Tricksters.
