Last night, Ticketmaster accidentally put its allotment of four-day passes to Phishs upcoming Red Rocks shows up for sale nearly a week before the shows March 26 onsale date. Word quickly spread through the internet and hundreds of fans were able to purchase tickets to the groups first Red Rocks dates since 1996. Internet rumors ranged from a simple internet glitch to an official radio promotion presale to a conscious effort on Phishs behalf to avoid scalpers.
As it turns out, the advance onsale date was a mistake and all Red Rocks orders place last night were promptly cancelled. This is not the first time Phish has entered into a ticketing fiasco since reuniting: Earlier this year Live Nations new ticketing service nearly crashed when a flood of fans tried to purchase tickets for Phishs summer tour. Others fans were boxed out of Phishs high-profile reunion shows after ticketing providers on eBay reneged on their secondary market ticket sales.
Tickets to Phishs upcoming Red Rocks shows will officially go onsale on March 26.
